Located in historic Grant Park, just minutes from downtown Atlanta.
Plan to spend about 2–3 hours to see most of the exhibits and experiences.
Many animals are more active in the morning, especially during warmer weather. Arriving near opening can help you beat crowds and heat.
Multiple food and beverage options are available throughout the zoo, including quick service cafés and kiosks.
Some activities, including the train ride, carousel, and ropes course, require an additional fee.
Children under age 12 must be accompanied by a responsible adult at all times.
You may bring outside food and drinks into the zoo. However, glass containers, alcoholic beverages, straws, and lids are prohibited.

Get up close to one of the largest collections of great apes in the United States, including gorillas and orangutans.
Step into Scaly Slimy Spectacular to see over 70 species of reptiles and amphibians, or wander through the African Savanna, where elephants, giraffes, and zebras roam in thoughtfully expanded spaces.

African Lion Habitat
Check out the newly upgraded lion habitat, home to Hondo, Hatari, and Azizi. The redesigned space features a roomy 1,200-square-foot enclosure, improved viewing areas for guests, added shade with rain cover, and a relocated pond that enhances the lions’ environment.

New Arrivals and Growing Family
Zoo Atlanta continues to welcome new residents, adding even more excitement to your visit:

Seng – A male Siamese crocodile who arrived in March 2026. As a representative of a critically endangered species, Seng now resides in the Scaly Slimy Spectacular exhibit.
Nafis – A male Schmidt’s guenon who joined the troop in November 2025. You’ll find him in the mixed-species monkey habitat in the Ford African Rain Forest.

Are wheelchair rentals available?

Yes. Manual and electric wheelchairs are available for rent at the Zoo Atlanta Explorer Store and Safari Outfitters, both located just inside the main entrance. Electric wheelchairs are limited and offered on a first-come, first-served basis. Manual wheelchair: $14 + tax per day Electric cart: $33 + tax per day Renters must be at least 18 years old to operate an electric wheelchair. A valid driver’s license is required as a deposit. Prices are subject to change.

Are strollers available for rent?

Yes, stroller rentals are available at Safari Outfitters at the following rates: - Single stroller: $11 + tax - Double stroller: $13 + tax Rates are subject to change without notice.

Can I bring my camera?

Yes, there are plenty of photo opportunities.

Can you bring food into Zoo Atlanta?

Yes, Zoo Atlanta allows outside food and drinks. Please note that glass containers, alcohol, and straws are prohibited. Straws are not permitted for the safety of the animals.

Can I bring my pet?

Only service animals are allowed. Zoo Atlanta’s Service Animal Admittance Policy defines service animals as dogs or miniature horses who are trained to perform a specific task for an individual with a disability. Emotional support animals and other animals are not permitted on zoo grounds.

What items are prohibited to bring?

The list of prohibited items include: weapons or sharp objects, alcoholic beverages, glass containers, straws and lids, drones, fireworks or explosive substances, skateboards, bicycles, and non-motorized scooters. Other restrictions may apply.
